Counseling For Your Mental Well Being

Adult Mental Health Counseling Services & Specialties

Adults are inherently subjected to life experiences that can sometimes overwhelm. Triangle Resolutions offers specializations in the following 3 therapeutic approaches to help clients reach therapeutic goals to clear or manage troubling symptoms:

Brainspotting

screen-shot-2016-12-05-at-9-45-42-am A “brainspot” is the eye position which is related to the energetic/emotional activation of a traumatic/emotionally charged issue within the brain, most likely in the amygdale, the hippocampus, or the orbitofrontal cortex of the limbic system. The ‘brainspot’ is actually a physiological subsystem holding emotional experiences in memory form. With processing of reflex subconscious responses and the somatic/sensory symptoms, the body’s inherent capacity to heal itself is stimulated.

Brainspotting is a powerful focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional /body pain, trauma, dissociation, and a variety of other troubling symptoms. It is a neurobiological tool for healing where a mature, nurturing therapeutic presence and ability to engage another human in a safe and trusting relationship where clients feel heard, accepted, and understood, is supported. - David Grand, Ph.D., Brainspotting Treatment Manual, 2009

“Brainspotting is based on the profound attunement of the therapist with patient, finding a somatic cue and extinguishing it by down-regulating the amygdale. It isn’t just PNS (Parasympathetic Nervous System) activation that is facilitated, it is homeostasis.” - Robert Scaer, M.D., The Trauma Spectrum, 2005

Brainspotting is a physiological technique that combines bilateral pendulation with the processing of physical and psychological symptoms. Brainspotting is not traditional talk therapy as details are not as important as identification and processing of physical symptoms.

Many clients have received immediate and lasting relief for symptoms such as: cravings such as in compulsive shopping & gambling, focus, betrayal, separation, anxiety, panic, obsessions, depression, anger, rage, phobias, performance issues, management of medical issues, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is the most commonly recognized approach to self help counseling utilized by therapists. Psychotherapy intends to help clients reach therapeutic goals such as finding resolution, managing and alleviating symptoms. Psychotherapy intends to support self exploration with direction of therapy governed by client interest and priority. It is a talk therapy that consists of ideas, behaviors, and emotions being shared with therapists to be analyzed for feedback, ideally at comfort level of patient.

Psychotherapy is a process of engagement, a collaborative process. Therapists are not in the business to change clients, to give them quick advice, or to solve their problems. Instead therapists facilitate healing through a process of general dialogue. The kind of person the therapist is remains the most critical factor affecting the client and promoting change. What makes a psychotherapist effective includes not only technical skills but also human characteristics that include but are not limited to: sincerity, authenticity, compassion, interpersonal skill, living in the present, sense of humor, and making mistakes with the ability to admit to them. -Gerald Corey, Ed.D., Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy, 2009
