Qualifications

Damon Dye, Ed.D., is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a National Certified Gambling Counselor, a Florida Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor and a National Board Approved Clinical Consultant/Supervisor for problem gambling counselors. Dr. Dye is certified in Clinical Hypnosis, Rapid Trauma Resolution, Clinical Brainspotting (BSP), and Advanced Brainspotting with Attachment, Complex PTSD, and Dissociation. He earned his Masters of Science of Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College and his Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, Sarasota (formally the University of Sarasota).

Experience

Dr. Dye’s clinical experience has included adult outpatient psychotherapy, adolescent development through recreational programming, behavior modification in adolescents/pre-schoolers, and administration management of clinical services for incarcerated juveniles. He specializes in hypnosis, Brainspotting, neurobiological and physiological techniques with adults, high risk teenagers, defiant children/adolescents, traumas, and problem gambling. He has assisted patients in resolving issues related to depression, anxiety, anger, attachment, conduct, panic, grief, impulse control, ADHD/ADD, adjustment, marital conflict, marital communication, mistrsut, changes in family dynamic, gambling, and substance use.

Author/Awards

Dr. Dye is a published author and has presented workshops on youth behavior and problem gambling to mental health professionals, staff, parents, and volunteers of community organizations. He has been awarded the C.G. Jung Society of Sarasota Scholarship for 2008. In addition, his work results include recreation/mental health treatment plans recommended for Best Practices to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

 

Professional/Volunteer Involvement

Dr. Dye was a member of the Florida Certification Board Developmental Committee for creation of a Gambling Addiction Professional certification. He has been identified by the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling to provide gambling addiction education to local community organizations. He is currently an Adjunct Professor for Springfield College. He also serves the community as a volunter Board Member of both: Springfield College Community Advisory Board and the Sylvia Thomas Center for Adoptive and Foster Families. Dr. Dye is a member of the American Counseling Association.

 

Approach

Dr. Dye seeks to help patients heal quickly and effectively. Dr. Dye’s therapeutic approach is holistic, exploring relationships, subconscious experiences, and physical symptoms for better personal balance. He is constructive and educational, assisting clients remove problematic emotional and physical symptoms. Focus areas of healing often include self exploration, self esteem, and cognitive distortion removal, leading to improvements with positive self image, self control, and self mastery. Dr. Dye utilizes numerous neurological, cognitive, and emotional approaches to help clients empower themselves and ‘tune up’ their natural healing process.
